I got inspired by a blog post by Steven Aitchison of Change your thoughts. He announces a couple of changes to his blog, and posts the goals for the rest of the year.
A couple of days ago I wrote down some goals for my blog as well. I’ll post them here, and by the end of the month, I’ll be reviewing my goals and post new ones. This is a great real life example of how goal setting works and it gives me the opportunity to discuss it in more detail on the blog, learn about it myself and grow this blog further.
The goals:
- 500 RSS subscribers at the end of the month
- Average of 100 visitors per day to the blog
- Post 5 guest posts on other blogs
- Publish 25 posts on my own blog
- Write 10 posts in advance (holidays are coming in july, better be prepared)
- Host all pages on my own domain (about page is still on typepad.com)
- Write and publish a good “Contact” page
- Write and publish a good “RSS explained/How to subscribe” page
- Get a Technorati Authority of 100 or higher
There are other activities related to blogging that I’ll be investigating. Amongst others I’ll be checking out Wordpress and further look into monetization. Typepad works good for me, but I want to know more about the Wordpress possibilities. And I have no specific goals for monetization (yet), getting break-even would be nice (that’s about $15 / month).
If anybody has tips or suggestions on how I can achieve one (or all) of my goals, please e-mail me or leave a comment. Thanks!
You can be an Original too!

Hi Lodewijk.
Why is exposure of your blog so important to you?

Hi Stephan,
Thanks for that question. I pursue three things with my blog:
1) Developing my ideas through the process of writing
2) Interacting with people to sharpen my ideas more
3) Building a basis for future self-employment in training and coaching
These are in order of importance for me at this point in time. Exposure is needed to build a steady base of reader, with whom I can interact on these topics and who make me think. Much like you have done with this question. Thanks again!
