On Sundays I’m looking back on the past week. How did my habit change go? How did my blog do? And how am I keeping up with my GTD system?
This is the first weekly review I do on this blog. I’ll do this every week, a rhythm inspired by David Allen’s Getting things done method.
Progress on habit change
Starting September I will be giving a report on the progress here, for August you can find the latest report here: Looking back on the third week of the Early Bird Challenge.
Blog performance
I did not manage to get an article posted everyday. Last week I had a very busy week at work, which required me to work evenings and early mornings as well. I’m still working up to the level to get posts done everyday.
Liz Strauss of Successful Blog awarded me with a SOB-badge yesterday. SOB is an acronym for Successful and Outstanding Bloggers and I’m proud of it! The badge is sitting in my sidebar as of now. What makes a SOB is defined by Liz:
They take the conversation to their readers, contribute great ideas, challenge us, make us better, and make our businesses stronger.

I have also joined Blog Action Day, an initiative of Leo Babauta of Zen Habits and Collis Ta’eed of Freelance Switch (love the design of that site). Blog Action Day is on October 15 and this year’s theme is the environment. When I joined there were a little over 300 blogs on the list, and when I just checked the counter was at 954! The idea is that all these blogs unite and write about the environment on the same day. That way a lot of people can be reached, and hopefully it will cross-over to traditional news media as well.

The statistics are doing good as well. This week there were 229 subscribers to the feed and I would like to thank everybody for their continued support. The visitors to the site came to a nice 191 daily average. And my Technorati Authority increased to 47.
The following blogs featured my articles in blog carnivals this week:
- Live the power unlimited
- Doing it differently @ Today is that day
- Made to be great
- Happiness @ Think happy thoughts
- Positive thoughts
- Personal Power @ pinkblocks
And to conclude the blogging week, I have won the book The Success Principles by Jack Canfield in the comment contest at Create Business Growth as you can see. CBG has also featured my post on Google Reader in their weekly feature Who said that? a couple of weeks ago.
Getting Things Done - weekly review
I’m not really good at the weekly review in GTD yet. And I have to say that I’ve been neglecting my system for a couple of weeks now (since I came back from holidays). So there’s a definite need to get things organized again. I do keep a strict discipline in keeping my inbox at work empty. No unprocessed mails sitting in there, just the ones that need action are in the appropriate folders. For the non-email related tasks, I’ve been neglecting my system. Need to get into that to get it functional again.
The last three weeks have been very productive nonetheless. Due to rising early I have more energy than before and this has been converted in a lot of progress on the projects I have at home. I have way too much projects on hand right now and it’s sometimes hard to see the overall picture. Simplifying would do the trick here and the best way to go forward would be to finish one project and then proceed to the next. But with sleeping children in the house there are a lot of time and noise constraints, and that strategy simply does not hold. I guess I have to deal with a lot of simultaneous projects for a little longer.
