Review week 41; goals, blog and GTD

On Sundays I’m looking back on the past week. How did I perform towards my goals? How did my blog do? And how am I keeping up with my GTD system?

Blog performance
Last week was another great week. I enjoyed writing the posts that I published this week, and I got some great reactions on them. Another 24 people have subscribed to the feed and there were a lot of visitors again. Thank you all!

Progress towards goals
I’m getting back in the rhythm of rising early as our nights are turning quieter again (thankfully!). It reminds you how important a good night’s rest is, it reflects on your energy and with that on the progress you make with goals.

I’m still making progress, and I started with the workout habit. Not on target yet, but the start is there (no more procrastinating it).

Getting Things Done - weekly review
My system at work is holding up great. And I have worked my way through my archiving backlog. I read the reader success stories at Zen Habits and continued with totally clearing out my desk from all kinds of clutter and I cleared my laptop’s desktop from all clutter too. And I’m totally loving it, and for now I find it easy to maintain. I’ll make a picture of it this week and write a post about it.

At home I started my GTD system again. I have been reading into different setups this week, and I decided to go with ListPro on my PDA. I bought gtdfrk’s ListPro templates for $5 to get started. And it’s working at the moment. I didn’t get the synchronization to work the way I wanted, so I’m sticking with my PDA as my GTD-tool.

I’m finding more and more that simplifying my life is the best way to get things done.  Finishing or stopping projects clears up your mind like nothing else. So that’s my main focus, decide what projects I want to finish, and which to put on hold. And get them done before (re)starting anything else.

  1. Hi there!
I’m not use to comment in the blogs I read, but today I decided give it a try. I think it’s so nice the way you publish your review weekly - I think it’s so sincere and mostly “real” that I finally start to agree with all the books I already read about the importance of a weekly review of our goals - sometimes the week is great, sometimes it’s not. But the important thing is keep trying! Thanks for share this with us! And have a great week.

  2. Hi Prix,

Thanks for this comment, I appreciate it! I write the reviews as part of my routine of reviewing my goals obviously, and not every week is a week with massive progress. I’m also guilty of putting starting with actions to achieve my goals (even when I know I really want to achieve them), and this habit of reviewing puts that behavior right in my face. And out into the world as well for that matter.

And as far as ‘believing’ the books: I too have read them, and thought “yeah right”. But one day I decided to just give it a try. Best case: it might work! Worst case: I might learn something. And until now, most of the tips they offer and changes they advocate work (and I learned something too).
