Review week 43; goals, blog and GTD

On Sundays I’m looking back on the past week. How did I perform towards my goals? How did my blog do? And how am I keeping up with my GTD system?

Blog performance
Another week in which I haven’t published a lot. I have been busy with work, family and making progress in my goals that I did not take time to write. I’ve also noticed that I have set myself a limitation by setting a weekly blog routine. This is not working out right for me. The routine (or the thought of it) is holding me back, instead of empowering me, so I’ve decided to drop it. I’m not dropping the topics of course.

Stats are up on all fronts this week. I’d like to welcome another 14 subscribers to the feed, thank you for reading along! Feel free to come over and drop a comment and join the discussion. The site visitors have also increased, thanks to StumbleUpon. The difference this time is that the average time spent on my blog did not drop significantly, so the people that visited through SU have stayed an average amount of time.

Technorati has experienced some trouble this week, but I think my ranking is up to date again. It’s still a long way to go to the top ;)

Statistics week 43
Average RSS subscribers: 446 +14
Average daily visitors: 287 +28
Technorati Authority: 204 +2

Progress towards goals
This week was a very good week for progressing towards achieving my goals. I worked on them a lot! Writing my article on the 47 words that sabotage goals however made me realize that I’m not empowering myself enough in my goals yet. I’m going to review my goals next week to rephrase them where needed.

Material State
1. Garden redone by 12-2007 Some preparation, not real progress.
2. 2nd floor redone by 12-2007 Serious progress. I spent 4 evenings and most of Saturday working on it. More to come this week.
3. €500 passive income by 03-2008 Blog income is not growing as fast as possible. I’m reading The 4-hour work week at the moment. So my knowledge is growing.
Active State
4. NLP Practitioner certification by 12-2007 No progress.
5. 2500 subscribers by 12-2007 A little step towards the goal. But I need to take action to get there. Only two months to get 2000+ new subscribers.
6. Given first training as trainer by 03-2008 No progress this week (again).
Social State
7. Rising early ACCOMPLISHED
8. Contact friends and family 4 days a week Ouch, only twice. Not good.
Emotional State
9. Review mission and goals weekly Skipped morning routine again this Sunday (we went to a party last night). But I’m liking this habit a lot, it keeps me sharp. And I’m doing it right now, so another good score.
10. Quarterly retreat Starts January 2008
Physical State
11. Workout 5 days a week Three times this week (running only, see next goal)
12. Run half a marathon in 10-2008 I ran three times this week. I run in the morning at about 6:15 am. Not a soul on the streets, just me and my thoughts. I have found that running is great for thinking.

Getting Things Done - weekly review
Again, no real progress. My system at work is still holding up, and most of the stuff is getting done on time. My desk is still empty, inboxes empty, archives are up to date, life is pretty organized. I like it.

Now I need to get that at home as well. There it’s still the other way around, system is not up and running completely, desk is far from empty (as is the space surrounding it), inboxes are -mostly- empty, archives are backlogged. Life is pretty disorganized. Yet I’m still getting a lot done :)
