How to be an Original

Review week 14-2008; Goals, blog and productivity habits

On Sundays I’m looking back on the past week. How did I perform towards my goals? How did my blog do? And how am I keeping up with my productivity habits?

Blog performance

Today, one year ago I published my first blog post on How to be an Original (I updated my about page since that post). So officially How to be an Original is a one-year old now. I’ve learned a lot about myself, about blogging, about goal setting and many more topics in that one year. I’m going to publish a post about that this week. For today, I’m just going to publish my standard weekly review.

Progress towards goals

This was mostly a relaxing week, with my birthday, and a family weekend. Pretty good, but on a goal level, this was a lousy week. No progress on all accounts. The next week is definitely going to be more goal oriented.

Productivity Habits - weekly review

No real changes in this area this week. I have been working on getting my day planned and working that plan throughout the day. Sometimes I’m doing a great job, sometimes I suck at it. I do notice that having a deadline helps, it improves my planning. And I noticed that the better the plan, the more likely I am to follow it closely.

  1. Hey Lodewijk, just stopping by to say hi, have been busy & also I cut my feeds right back (actually, to zero). I haven’t forgot about yez.

What prompted me was a comment you left on menwithpens.ca. Was this what prompted your recent blog overhaul?

  2. The comment about the feedback I spontaneously got on my blog design you mean? I leave many comments over there :)

It didn’t inspire me to do the big redesign, that was entirely out of my own hat. I had grown tired of not understanding the theme I was working with and the mess the code was.

It did inspire me to ask around about the color scheme, and ended up changing it to a more neutral color. The green I had turned out to be different, but a bit too hard on the eyes ;)
